Overview

Presented by Young ITA, Co-sponsored by Corrs Chambers Westgarth and Debevoise & Plimpton

Join us in Brisbane during Australian Arbitration Week 2019 for an evening of discussion and debate, followed by networking drinks and hors d’oeuvres. The evening is aimed at more junior practitioners but all are welcome to attend. We hope that you will be able to join us for what we are sure will be a very lively and enjoyable evening.

In this seminar, the panel will give their practical insights on obtaining emergency and interim measures in commercial and investor-State arbitrations. In recent years, the availability of these measures has expanded to enable disputes to remain within the realm of arbitration. Yet how does emergency relief differ from expedited and interim relief? When are emergency or interim measures available in investment treaty arbitrations? What do arbitrators look for when determining applications? What are the common pitfalls? When would court relief be more advantageous? These are just some of the questions our experienced panelists will explore as they discuss the issues that lawyers often face when parties need urgent assistance.

#YoungITATalks is a series of local events presented around the world, featuring talks, workshops or interviews that cover a wide range of subjects relating to arbitration. The #YoungITATalks series is designed for education, conversation and sharing knowledge and experiences among young practitioners.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, this event is tuition-free and includes drinks and canapés. Please register in advance to help us get an accurate headcount.
