Overview

This non-capital program provides practical information to assist trial lawyers, and improve awareness of technology and how it can be used to assist in client representation. This program will take a hands-on approach to train defense lawyers how to best utilize software technology available to the defense. Attendees will apply skills learned to develop slideshow presentations using a mock case. More information coming soon!

Required equipment: Registrants are encouraged bring the following equipment to benefit fully from this program: 1.) a PC or Mac Laptop, 2.) Microsoft PowerPoint, 3.) Microsoft OneNote, and 4.) Adobe Acrobat Professional.

This course is funded by a grant from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

Who Should Attend?

With the exception of invited faculty, attendance is limited to defense attorneys and those who directly assist them in Criminal Defense Litigation.

New this year: You may not register for this program if you are or work for a full or part-time: prosecutor, special prosecutor, judge, magistrate, municipal judge with magistrate duties, or law enforcement officer (unfortunately, no exceptions).

The State Bar of Texas has approved this program for a total of 13.5 hours, including 2 hours of ethics. Course ID Number: 901365932.

In addition to Texas, after the program (if requested) CAIL will directly apply for course accreditation in the following states, as long as course materials and evaluations are not required: California, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Attorneys may be eligible to receive CLE credit through attorney self-submission in other states, as long as course materials and evaluations are not required to be submitted.
